Suspected rival cult groups are on the prowl again in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital with over 12 deaths recorded in the past three days.
Our correspondent gathered that a young man identified as Peter Jeremiah a.k.a Boy O Boy who is alleged to be a member of one of rampaging cult groups was brutally murdered on Tuesday at Yenizuegene-Epie, Yenagoa.
It was learnt that the late Peter had gone to the Yenizuegene Beach, a popular rendezvous for youths in the area located across the Epie creek where he was attacked by gun shots and several machete cuts.
Our correspondent further gathered that another unidentified youth was also shot the previous day while others sustained machete injuries in a related reprisal cult activities in the same community.
Similarly, a young lad simply identified as Uche was reportedly shot dead near Samphino road, Kpansia in the state capital on Monday by the marauding cultists.
At Amarata community in the Yenagoa metropolis, the cult boys also struck on Tuesday, killing a youth yet to be identified and wounding several others.
Similar attacks were reportedly carried out at Ekeki, Okaka and other communities in the state capital within the week, leaving residents in fear and trembling.
When contacted for confirmation of the various incidence, the Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa state Police Command, Mr. Asinim Botswat, said he was in a function and that he could only respond to SMS but did not respond to the text message sent to him by our correspondent.
