The convocation of the Yoruba summit is predicated on the widening of the national fault lines.

The polarization of national politics and divisiveness in Nigeria has been described as factors undermining development in the South-West. The Yoruba summit group believes that the nation has stiffled its growth for failing to allow the regions to grow at their pace. The State Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo stated this at a meeting with the Executive Members of the Bonny Maritime Boat Owners Association to fashion out ways to ensure the safety of seafarers on that route at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

WHY I AM HAPPY WE WALKED OUT ON OSIBANJO – Ovie of Oghara

Published by:

Vice President Osibanjo

THE traditional ruler of Oghara Kingdom, Delta State, HRM Noble Eshemitan, Orefe III, yesterday, applauded the January walkout on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by Urhobo monarchs during a fact-finding visit by Osinbajo to the Niger Delta, adding that Urhobo monarchs in the state have been consistently disrespected.

Osinbajo The monarch, who addressed members of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, at the 2017 UPU America convention held in Chicago, USA, also took a swipe at some Urhobo sons involved in the leadership tussle that rocked UPU. His words: “We were made to gather at the venue from 10a.m. to 5p.m., waiting for the Vice President, who, meanwhile, was visiting two ethnic nationalities that are neighbours of the Urhobo. “When the Vice President eventually arrived, accompanied by the state governor, the Urhobo traditional rulers, including myself, staged a walk out. “The governor came down begging us profusely. Why will any government assemble revered traditional rulers as early as 10a.m., for an event that finally commenced at 5p.m.? “The truth is that the Urhobo and their leaders are not revered. Charity, they say, begins at home and we must, therefore, move beyond rhetoric and start according respect to our leaders by ourselves.

RIVERS POLITICS AND AMAECHI’S HYPOCRITICAL CALL FOR EQUITY – By Oraye St. Franklyn

Published by:

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi

Vendetta sometimes drives its victims to the point where in a bid to exert vengeance, commonsensical facts and history are relegated to the backwaters of their consciousness. The embattled Minister for Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi appears plagued by a bout of such misnomer and perhaps also presumes that the larger population has lost its sense of history. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

In his call for equity in the politics of Rivers State, Minister Amaechi appears to be the one who has solely lost touch of the history that he represents and how that, if any at all, he is not one so qualified to make a valid case and call for equity in the politics of the State.

Regardless, however, today he is reminded of the sacred and incontrovertible facts of both his menacing inconsistencies and habitual personal usurpation of the rights of the Riverine by his very political history, in order to put paid to his shenanigan political enterprise of bland deceit and complete personal interest at the cost of the political hegemony of Rivers State.

When Dr. Odili completed his legitimate term in office, Rotimi Amaechi, our new-day Apostle of Equity in Rivers politics, in the spirit of equity should not have accepted to become Governor, given that his Senatorial district had already produced a Governor and it was only proper that in concomitance with the Riverine/Upland order of Rivers Politics and for equity sake, after an Uplander from the Rivers West Senatorial district had become Governor a Riverine from the Rivers South East, the only Senatorial district that had not produced a Governor of the State, should emerge as one. But no! Mr. Amaechi did not decline to distort the order of the politics of the State. He wholeheartedly latched on to the opportunity and usurped the Riverine slot for a complete term of 8 scandalous years. And today, the same man speaks of equity? Na wa oh. Wonders would never end.
