EIGHT REASONS WHY PEOPLE THINK NIGERIA MAYBE A SHITHOLE

Published by:

The debate about Nigeria if it is a SHITHOLE or not is not an issue of patriotism, but one of reality. President Donald Trump once said in a meeting at the White House that Nigerians live in huts and when they come to America on visiting visa, they do not want to return home. In a recent swipe on the continent of Africa, he referred to countries in Africa as shitholes.

The banter if Nigeria is a SHITHOLE has been back and forth. The African Union representative to the United Nations said that President Trump should apologize anyway for his uncomplimentary remarks. It is not new to hear Trump speak in such an un-Presidential manner.

Let come to terms with the word SHITHOLE. What makes a place a SHITHOLE? First and foremost, a shithole is a place that is primitive and mundane, lacking no creativity, initiative or sense, where there is outright depravity, poverty and injustice pervading the entire environment.

In a recent interview with the Vanguard, the General Overseer, Believers Assembly of Nigeria, Prelate Isaiah Issong said that the 2017 Christian pilgrimage contingent were seen as a security threat in the holy land. According to Issong, they were embarrassed and humiliated by the comments of the tour guides, having been addressed as Boko Haram and Militants. “We were branded heartless and dubious criminal suspect.” Continue reading
