1. An audit panel of five members has been set up to look into the missing funds belonging to Abonnema. The panel has the following members:

* Alabo T.O Graham Douglas – Chairman

* Chief Elekima Granville – Member

* Chief Diepriye Briggs – Member

* Chief Alaye Oweredaba. – Member

* Chief Kingsley Young-Jack – Member

2. The council also decided to dissolve a ten (10) man committee trust, dealing with the oil companies with immediate effect and has set up a panel to resolve nomination from eleven(11) independent group of houses and forward same to the office of the Regent within seven(7) days. Continue reading

Don Wanny’s Chief Security Officer Gunned down by security forces

Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, yesterday evening revealed how Augustine Agulegbu, aka Nana, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the killed notorious terrorist, Johnson Igwedibia, aka Don Waney, was gunned down in Delta State.

He disclosed that Agulegbu was planning to attack security agencies’ locations, churches and schools in Rivers, before he was gunned down by a combined team of soldiers and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). Continue reading

Killer Cultists On The Prowl In Yenagoa

Suspected rival cult groups are on the prowl again in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital with over 12 deaths recorded in the past three days.

Our correspondent gathered that a young man identified as Peter Jeremiah a.k.a Boy O Boy who is alleged to be a member of one of rampaging cult groups was brutally murdered on Tuesday at Yenizuegene-Epie, Yenagoa.
It was learnt that the late Peter had gone to the Yenizuegene Beach, a popular rendezvous for youths in the area located across the Epie creek where he was attacked by gun shots and several machete cuts.
Our correspondent further gathered that another unidentified youth was also shot the previous day while others sustained machete injuries in a related reprisal cult activities in the same community.

“THE PROBLEMS WE FACE” – TEENAGE MOTHER

In recent times, there has been an increase in population in the Niger Delta region especially in Bayelsa. This is as result of the rising rate of single mothers in this part of the world. Most single mothers are victims of unwanted pregnancies.

 

Girls within the range of 13-21 have a greater risk of becoming single mothers, 8 among 10 aged 13 to 20 are active sexually which makes them prone to early and teenage pregnancy. A number of them see abortion as the only way to avoid pregnancy. This negative experience continues because much has not been done to get rid of the problem.

A number of things can be traced as causes of this unholy act of early child pregnancy that is eating up the girls of this region. In the research, three problems where highlighted as the common causes of infant pregnancy and fast rising rate of younger grandmothers. Continue reading
