Buhari your goodwill has depleted – Catholic Bishops

Catholic Bishops of Nigeria have registered their displeasure over the state of the Nation in a meeting held with President Buhari on Thursday.

They met the President under the auspices of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, also told the President that he came into power under the goodwill of Nigerians but that the goodwill had been eroded as a result of the failure of government to tackle the myriads of problems facing the nation.

According to the Vanguard, the Catholic Bishops stated this when they paid a courtesy visit on President Buhari at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja. The CBCN in the address delivered by its President, Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Ayau Kaigama who is the Archbishop of Jos, also told the President that the heightening clamour for restructuring of the country, agitation for session among other things was as a result of disregard for the principal of federal character by the government. Internally Displaced Person’s (IDP’s) in Benue State receives N200 million assistance from Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike in company of state executives paid a solidarity visit to Benue State to commiserate with the Governor and people of the state over the murder of 73 people at the beginning of the year by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

 

Praying for the dead                                         Governor Wike said that ” I am not in Benue state for Politics but Gov. Ortom my friend knows that their party is not doing well. I am in Benue State to sympathise with him on the massacre that the people of Benue have suffered. When I was shouting about the killings in Rivers state, they said I was playing politics, now there is killing in almost every part of Nigeria. 

 

 

To the people of Benue, God will fight for you, you must also try to defend yourselves but don’t take laws into your hands.” Continue reading

2018 African Wrestling Championship begins in Port Harcourt

The 2018 African Wrestling Championship has begun with thirty six African countries participating at the main bowl of Alfred Diette Spiff civic centre in Port Harcourt.

The President of Nigeria as represented by the Hon. Minister of Sports & Youth Development, BARR. SOLOMON DALUNG advised the athletes to focus on the cup just as he encouraged youths to believe in Africa and to desist from violence adding that there’s a great potential in Africa

Court sentence woman for stabbing husband to death

The High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, presided over by Justice Nayai Aganaba on Wednesday (7/2/2018) sentenced 30-year-old Victoria Gariga to death by hanging for killing her husband, Henry Gariga a lawyer from Sagbama L.G.A.Victoria committed the crime on February 4, 2015 at their residence along Ebisam road in Akenfa, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State by stabbing her husband on the neck following a misunderstanding. HRM. ATEKE TOM SUES APC CHIEFTAINS IN RIVERS STATE

The Amanyanabo of Okochiri clan in Okirika Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom, has filed a N1 billion suit against eight chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State over alleged defamation.

In the suit PHC/345/2018 before a State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Ateke, who is an Ex-Niger Delta agitator further demanded apology from the APC chieftains on national newspapers for denting his character.

The defendants in the suit are: Hon. Asita O. Asita, Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC in the 2015 election, Dr. Davies Ikanya, the Chairman of APC in the state, Dumo Lulu Briggs, Sampson Ngerigbara.

Others defendants in the suit include, Prince Tonye Princewill, Sekonte Davies, Emeka Beke, secretary of the APC in the state and Lawrence Chuku. Continue reading
