National development stunted by mentally challenged Ministers like Amaechi, says Governor Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that national development has been stunted because of mentally challenged Ministers like the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

The governor said the recent outings of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi confirms that his mental status is degenerating very fast.

He spoke at the Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday when the management of the Silverbird Group presented his nomination letter as the Silverbird Man of the Year, 2017.

He said: “Former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has a serious mental case. This is what makes it difficult for him to appreciate the seriousness of security issues .

“That is the kind of people that we have in the Federal Cabinet. With such people, it is impossible for the country to make progress. He needs urgent medical attention “.

Governor Wike said based on Amaechi’s logic, President Muhammadu Buhari needs to resign because of the nationwide breakdown of security. He said national security is the direct responsibility of the President. Continue reading

Southern Kaduna boils again, as traditional ruler and pregnant wife murdered and palace set ablaze

As Nigerians celebrate the new year, it was a sad experience for Southern Kaduna indigenes, as tragedy struck a traditional ruler, the Etum Numana, Mr. Gambo Makama, and his wife who were both shot dead. His palace and car was also set ablaze.

Fortunately, the son of the traditional ruler was lucky, as he survived the attack with gunshot injuries and is being treated at an undisclosed hospital.

The killing of the traditional ruler and his wife has brought to 10 the number of persons killed by unknown gunmen in Southern Kaduna in the last one week.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Mukhtar, who confirmed the killings, said although no arrest had been made, the Police were on the trail of the gunmen.

Naijavoxpop gathered that, the second class traditional ruler had travelled to his village to celebrate New Year when gunmen, said to be wearing masks, invaded the palace few minutes after midnight and opened fire on them. Continue reading


Amaechi re-appointed Buhari’s campaign director for 2019 elections

As 2019 general elections draw closer, it is crystal clear that President Muhammadu Buhari may have thrown his cap into the ring to seek re-election next year by reappointing the Minister of Transportation and the former governor of Rivers State, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, as the Director-General of his 2019 election campaign.

According to THISDAY, Amaechi has been issued a letter of appointment for the next general elections and would make an official announcement on his appointment anytime soon.

It will be recalled that 2015 general elections Amaechi was appointed as the Director-General of President Buhari campaign.


Police arrest eight suspected Fulani herdsmen in connection with Benue New Year’s massarce

The Benue State Police Command said it has arrested eight herdsmen in connection with New Year Day’s attacks in Guma and Logo Local Governments in which 17 people were killed.

Speaking in Makurdi on Wednesday, the command’s Spokesman, Mr. Moses Yamu, said that the attacks were carried out between December 31 and January 1, 2018.

“Eight herdsmen – six in Guma and two in Logo – have been arrested in connection with the attacks. Proper additional deployments are made to the troubled areas and its environs for monitoring, in order to forestall further occurrence and to restore confidence in the minds of the people”

The command noted that investigation was on-going and the situation was under control. Continue reading

Benue indigenes hacked to death by suspected Fulani herdsmen

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom said herdsmen had killed over 20 persons between Monday and Tuesday in Guma and logo local government areas of the state.

Ortom disclosed this while briefing journalists on Tuesday in Makurdi after the State Security Meeting. He said that out of the number were nine Livestock Guards who were to ensure the full implementation of the Anti-Open Grazing Law.

He said that the law was not targeted at any ethnic group and wondered why the herdsmen had taken it so personal to the point of unleashing terror on the people.

The first citizen of Benue state also lamented the unwarranted wanton destruction of lives and property by the herdsmen just as he said that, no matter the intimidation and killings by the herdsmen, the law would not be reversed or repealed.

He therefore, assured that the law must be implemented to the latter and anybody or group of persons that flouted it would be made to face the full wrath of the law. Continue reading


Driver dumps boss body in septic tank

Police arrest alleged kidnapper

A driver identified as Samson has been arrested for killing his boss and dumping his body in a septic tank at Ekiadolor area of Ovia North East local government area of the state.

Two other suspects were also arrested in connection with the killing.

It was learnt that Samson sold the vehicle of his boss to an herbalist at Ovbiogie village and told the victim’s children that their father was kidnapped. Continue reading
