Lawmaker, wife of Tom Price, asks about ‘quarantine’ of people with HIV

TLANTA — A Georgia state lawmaker — the wife of former Trump health secretary Tom Price — is drawing condemnation for suggesting that people with HIV might be quarantined to curb the spread of the infectious disease.

Republican state Rep. Betty Price, a former anesthesiologist who represents people living in the northern Atlanta area, asked in a hearing this week “what are we legally able to do” to limit the spread of HIV throughout the state.

RIVERS TOPS POSITION IN FISCAL INDEX REPORT – SIGN OF FRUGAL LEADERSHIP

Rivers State Government says it came tops in the newly published Fiscal Sustainability Index Report because of the frugality of the Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike led administration in the management of public resources.

In a ‘State of the States’ report released by BudgIT Nigeria, a reputable budget transparency advocacy group, Rivers State is placed first ahead of Lagos State because of its healthier financial profile especially in terms of increase in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), lower debt profile and ability to pay its bills and service her debts with comparative ease.

In a Press Statement released today in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications Barr Emma Okah, citing the report, said Rivers, Lagos, Ogun and Kano States are ahead of the other states in terms of Internally Generated Revenue. However, while Lagos State records the highest IGR in Nigeria, its huge debt of over N734 billion as at December 2016, gives Rivers an edge in terms of fiscal sustainability, the report said. JUSTICE EBERECHI NYESOM WIKE BAGS ANGLICAN DIOCESAN AWARD

The Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike has appealed to women to support each other to change the erroneous belief that women are not comfortable supporting each other to rise.

The Rivers Governor’s Wife advocated a paradigm shift in the relationship amongst women, saying that such move will enhance women empowerment.

She spoke on Sunday at the Saint Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Port Harcourt where she was honoured with an award of “A Noble Woman of Valour” by the Mothers Union and Women Guild of the Diocese of Niger Delta North, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion. Continue reading

Retirees charge Rivers State Government to pay their entitlements

Rivers State pensioners have appealed to the State Government to save them from hunger by paying them their retirement benefits. Pensioners in Rivers state held a protest recently in Port Harcourt to express their pain over the non-payment of their gratuities. The pensioners under the” Rivers State pensioners union” expressed disappointment over what they described as the “nonchalant attitude “of the governor towards their plight. One of them who spoke anonymously told our correspondent that “despite the biometric exercise that was conducted several times, no payment had been made so far. PA Echendu who retired since 2014 told our correspondent that “we are all desperate, we are suffering.. It is unfortunate that Rivers State is still owing pensioners.
