LANDLORDS DRAG RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT TO COURT OVER DEMOLITION OF PROPERTIES

The victims of demolition at Unity Estate within Eneka community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have dragged the State Government before a State High court sitting in Port Harcourt.

Among those joined as respondents in the suit are the Attorney General of the state and the State Ministry of Urban Development.

According to the motion on notice for an order enforcing fundamental rights order two rule one with numbers, 2346 sighted by our correspondent, members of Unity Estate Landlords Association who are victims of the demolition want the court to declare as illegal the massive demolition of over eighty houses and other properties worth billions of naira by the State Government. GOVERNOR WIKE ACCUSES SARS OPERATIVES, SAYS THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SERIES OF KIDNAPPING AND ARM ROBBERY IN RIVERS STATE

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that most of the kidnapping and armed robbery taking place in the state are perpetrated by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The governor stated that the
embattled Rivers State Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) Commander, Mr Akin Fakorede and his operatives have been indicted by an official Police Signal, which indicated that they are responsible for the series of kidnapping and deadly robbery across the state.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday at the Government House Port Harcourt, Governor Wike stated that the SARS Commander was planted in the state to sabotage the security architecture of the state and create an atmosphere of fear.

The governor said that criminal activities of Mr Fakorede were uncovered by the Inspector General of Police X Squad Abuja deployed to the state after the squad busted the attempted kidnap of one Mr Azumana Ifeanyi on September 11, 2017 at the GRA, Port Harcourt.

The Official Police Signal with the title: “Police Wireless Message ” and Reference Number DT0: 121030/09/2017 —INGENPOL-X-FHQ ABUJA TO-INGENPOL SEC ABUJA, noted that the squad received a distress call on the kidnap of Mr Ifeanyi and immediately swung into action. According to the signal, they met the three SARS operatives robbing and a gun duel ensued. The operatives had taken Mr Ifeanyi to a Fidelity Bank ATM where they compelled him to withdraw N500,000 as ransom.

One of the SARS Operatives was killed, while Inspector Justice Nyeche who led the IGP team was injured. Continue reading

SUSPECTED IPOB MEMBERS ATTACK POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL VEHICLE, KILL TWO OFFICERS, AND SET POLICE VAN ABLAZE IN OYIGBO

Rivers State Commissioner of Police ZAKI AHMED has confirmed the arrest of over thirty-three suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafra who have been on rampage at Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.

CP AHMED also confirmed the killing of two Police officers and inflicting injuries on many inhabitants of the area by the same group who attacked residents of Oyigbo.

CP AHMED said the IPOB members equally attacked police van from training school Nonwa enroute Port Harcourt International Airport and burnt the police van to ashes and the driver of the vehicle named, inspector Emaikwu Ochochi was badly injured.

Briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Moscow road in Port Harcourt, the commissioner of Police however said normalcy have since been restored but threatened that all those involved in the violence attack which led to the killing of police officers who were discharging their lawful duties and other damage will be made the face the wrath of the law.
