FRSC Sector Commander cuts hair of female personnel.

Some months back, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp in Rivers State was all over the news after he was involved in a hair cutting saga. Many considered the action of former Rivers State FRSC Sector Commander, Ayodele Kumapayi as weird when he requested for a pair of scissors to cut the hair extensions of female officers in April. It happened during a general hair, uniform and finger nail inspection. Kumapayi said that there was need for officers to comply with the dress code of the agency. Continue reading

WIKE CALLS ON FG TO EXPEDITE ACTION ON OGONI CLEANUP

According to our Port Harcourt correspondent, the Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has called on the federal government  and other experts to expedite action on the Ogoni cleanup exercise.

Governor Wike made this call on Tuesday at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex, Port Harcourt, while declaring open the Port Harcourt Environmental Summit with the theme “Our Environment, our Heritage: Environmental Sustainability in Rivers State, a right for all”.

The Governor was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo. The Governor said that the state government is always willing and ready to collaborate with the federal government, waiting with serious expectation to the clean up exercise.

He also commended the State Assembly for initiating such a summit that attracted stakeholders and investors across the nation and abroad to the state, that the state government is committed to responsible management of the environment.

The Committee Chairman of the Summit and Chairman State House Committee on Environment, Hon Ahiakwo Christian said that the summit was special as it is the first to be organized and hosted by the legislative arm of government in Nigeria, adding that “it is significant because Rivers State by natural endowment is the centre of Oil and Gas activities with its attendant consequences”. LONDON FIRE CLAIMS 6 LIVES

It was commotion in London yesterday after a fire spark by a faulty fridge led to an explosion that engulfed a 27 storey building in London’s White City. The raging fire took over the Grenfell Tower in just 15 minutes. Children were seen being thrown out of the window. A baby was tossed down from the 10th floor into a waiting hand, though safe, the baby sustained minor bruises. According to the Scotland yard Police, six people have been confirmed dead. However, many have been declared missing from the inferno. Continue reading
